klpac: Hallucination & Pintu Amaterasu by Dewandaru Dance Company (9 -12 June)‏

Hi,

My name is Kasha from klpac. We’ll be having Rianto and his Tokyo-based Dewandaru Dance Company here to perform a fascinating double bill Pintu Amaterasu & Hallucination from 9 – 12 June!

It’s really interesting to have Dewandaru & people like Rianto here – they represent a new breed of dancers who preserve traditional art forms & at the same time try to bring it to a new level. They present their work on a global level and often collaborate.

Pintu Amaterasu is a fusion of both Javanese & Japanese mythology and culture while Hallucination was inspired by the book Yakuza Moon. Both works are very different in style. Pintu Amaterasu is more traditional and is an ensemble piece performed by a mix of Japanese & Indonesian dancers while Hallucination is a more experimental / contemporary solo by Rianto (it was performed at the recent Tokyo Performing Arts Market 2010).

Both pieces have been choreographed by Rianto, the co-founder & director of Dewandaru. Rianto is one of the most exciting Indonesian dance personalities to have emerged in recent times. Young and ambitious, he has chosen Japan as a base for spreading Javanese dance & exploring new ways to revolutionise Javanese dance. He particularly loves to collaborate and he’s worked with all kinds of artistes (not just dance) from all over the world. He has worked with the famed Japanese Pappa TARAHUMARA troupe and studied under butoh master Yukio Waguri.

We’re offering a Buy 10 & get 2 free promotion for dance groups / schools so do take advantage of that!

Ticket prices are all below. If you have further questions, please ring me on 03 4047 9040 or Yue May on 4047 9012.

Thanks & hope see to see you at klpac!

Sincerely,

Kasha

Closing of Hilltop Carpark‏

The hill top car park will be closed for upgrade work - for the laying down of a new surface - something students have been asking for for a while now.

We ask for your co-operation in this matter as it'll only be from the 24th to 26th, in terms of working days. Should you need a place to park, please park at the Bukit Jalil Stadium car park. I think the charge is about RM 2.00.

We apologise for the inconvenience caused, but know that it's being done with students' needs in mind. Thanks!

Warmest Regards,

Amar
